He does not understand the rejection by the journal Die redenden Künste of his friend's article, while the next issue contains a very sympathetic article by Max MARSCHALK ("einen sehr sympathischen Artikel aus der Feder des H. Marschalk", Die redenden Künste, vol. 3, 1896- 1897, p. 371-375).
He is on his way to Dresden, where a concert of the
Chapelle royale [under the direction of Ernst von Schuch] is given the next day with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th movements of the IInd
Symphony, and Blumenstück [2nd movement of the IIIrd
Symphony] (a strange assemblage), and he has been asked to attend the dress rehearsal... Eben bin ich auf dem Wege nach Dresden wo morgen ein Concert der Kgl. Kapelle 2. 3. u. 4. Satz aus der II, und "Blumenstück" (eine sonderbare Zusammenstellung) gebracht wird, und meine Gegenwart bei der Generalprobe verlangt wurde"...
