Harley-Davidson bought the twowheeler branch of the Italian aeronautical manufacturer Aermacchi in 1960. But then, the entity was in turn bought by American Machine & Foundry (AMF), the famous American manufacturer of electronic equipment and bowling in 1973. It was at this point that the Harley-Davidson Aermacchi became AMF Harley-Davidson, and the 350 Sprint, which had just been fitted with an electric starter, became Super Sprint. The road versions of Aermacchi, despite their excellent engine and chassis, suffered from a lack of identity at the time and sold poorly, and production of the 350 SS ceased at the end of 1973 after 3,441 units were built. The SS shown here is one of these rare bikes. It is matching numbers and has benefited from an exemplary restoration, close to factory condition. With its electric starter, it is an easy to use motorbike that symbolises an entire era and is rare on the market today. An opportunity not to be missed.
