"Dear and worthy friend, always well touched by your many marks of attachment and such generous sentiments, I am sorry I cannot be with you this evening, but I have disposed, and for certain indispensable conveniences in this tyrannical world of evenings, of the rest of my evening." He regrets, "for where better to be than in the bosom of your adorable family"...
Another L.A.S. (signed at the top) to the painter Pierre DUVAL LE CAMUS, 19 October [1841] (half-page in-8, address on the back) is enclosed. "M. Ingres has the honour to inform Monsieur Duval Le Camus that his Vierge will be on view at his home at the Institute from Thursday 21st until Sunday evening".
