Gide or Edmond Fazy and Léon Blum, alongside unpublished pieces by Leconte de Lisle, Maeterlink, Heredia, Mallarmé, Verlaine, Jean Moréas,
Henri de Régnier, Judith Gautier, Camille Mauclair... The most important contributor to this "anthology of the youngest poets," as its subtitle warns, was Paul Valéry, who contributes 14 poems, including the famous Narcisse speaks in the first issue.
Copy enriched with several autograph documents from Pierre
Louÿs, including a letter to André Gide accompanied by a sonnet dedicated "to André Walter."
Draft statutes, justification, and contents.
3 pp. ½ small in-4 on 3 ff. of lined paper, in violet and black ink| with 2 ff. In-16 recto in violet ink comprising the draft justification and circulation of the journal, 1 f. in-8 resto in violet ink bearing a list of texts "in preparation," as well as a draft "agenda" in pencil on 1 f. in-8| (paper uniformly yellowed, tired at folds with slight tears).

2 pp. bearing two slightly different lists, the first of 69 surnames and the second of 87, accompanied by 4 pp. of subscribers' addresses. It contains the entire French Parnassian and Symbolist panorama of the end of the century: Mallarmé, Verlaine, Leconte de Lisle, François Coppée, Sully Prud'homme, Heredia, Anatole France,
Gabriel Vicaire, Ernest Reynaud, Alfred Valette, Catulle Mendès, or Oscar Wilde, as well as those of the second generation, who were to mark the beginning of the 20th century: Valéry, Claudel, Gide, Fénéon, Lorrain.
Minutes of the meeting of February 2, 1980, under the presidency of André Gide.
6pp. small folio, 4 of which in Pierre Louÿs' hand and 2 in another hand, probably Marcel Drouin's, in black ink on 2 double sheets of paper| (small accidents, tears not serious). This session, which was very parodic in appearance, was attended by only three people: Gide, president, Louÿs, clerk, and Marcel Drouin, member of the editorial board. The meeting began by voting "unanimously [...] for a very clear reprimand against the person named
André-Léon Blum", without giving any reasons, no doubt because of his absence, and then the agenda moved on to the "heartfelt speeches" of the members present. It is a question of establishing a "preface" to the review, which Gide proposes to divide into two: "first of all, two pages which would show the aim of the review, where we would unfurl the flag of the evolution of language and new trends [...] We are evolutionists, we are not revolutionaries.
Autograph letter from Pierre Louÿs to André Gide, about Paul Valéry's Conch and Narcissus, with an autograph sonnet signed "Chrysis", dated 8 February 1891. 2 pp. in-16 obl, written diagonally in blue ink on a card with Louÿs' address printed in red on rue de Vineuse.
Louÿs thanks Gide for sending the Cahiers d'André Walter which his brother
Georges appreciated very much before detailing, in 5 numbered paragraphs, the last preparations for La Conque : "My brother has been prodigiously excited about your book, which is an excellent guarantee of the success that awaits you [....] I have received [...] an extraordinary "Narcissus" signed by Valery, which will open the first issue of La Conque [...] Hérédia has spontaneously offered himself as a subscriber! And sonnets as long as we want them! Anything we want! What a creamy man! [...] Each issue of La Conque except the first one will be preceded by a piece signed by Régnier, Hérédia, Mallarmé, Dierx, Griffin, Maeterlinck, Moréas,
Merrill, Darzens with autograph signature! Rich idea!".
And on the reverse side, Louÿs dedicates "to André Walter" an octosyllabic sonnet : "Since the only gold of twilight
takes off the glory with great grapes,
Since of cloudy water in heavy swamps
Sadly the end recedes [...]".
This letter and this sonnet were published by Joseph Ca
