NOTE A study conducted by the Centre d'Études Généalogiques Rhône-Alpes (CEGRA) has profoundly renewed our knowledge of the painter Prieur-Bardin. The sculptor
François-Léon Prieur-Bardin was born in Vif (Isère) in 1870 into a family of potters. From 1890, he regularly exhibited his sculptures at the Grand Palais. He is also credited with paintings of the Bosphorus and Marseille signed "Prieur-Bardin". It is the recent posting of his marriage in Algiers in 1891 that allows us to discover the painter Eugène-
Antoine Prieur-Bardin. He was born in Vénissieux (Rhône) in 1860. At the birth of his son, in 1897, we find him in Constantinople where he lives from his painting. He then moved to Marseille where he painted until his death in 1905.

"E. Prieur-Bardin. - Constantinople in the Evening (Decorative panel). - It is orientalist style, but a beautiful style. The effects of the setting sun on the minarets and the blue banks of the Bosphorus are well translated. It is a vigorous and evocative painting. M. Prieur-
Bardin knows his Orient inside out and knows how to bring it to life, thanks to his impressionist talent."
