In the middle of the 50's, the Renault range consisted of the 4CV for the entry level and the Frégate for the higher status. The brand therefore wanted to offer a more modern mid-range model to meet its customers' expectations. The Dauphine, the result of a collaboration between Fernand Picard and the Italian coachbuilder Ghia, was available from 1956. It will be a great success as more than 2 000 000 units will be manufactured.

Our example was launched on June 25, 1958. It is painted in the same azure blue as the original. Its interior has been partially restored many years ago, and is now in used condition. Traces of corrosion are to be noticed on the chassis and bodywork. Mechanically, this Dauphine is equipped with a 690-1 engine that needs to be restarted. Note that it is not blocked. This car is an interesting restoration project that will delight a fan of the diamond brand.
