In 1947, the Renault company launched the production of a model that had been in development for nearly 7 years. Aimed at a popular clientele, the 4CV was an immediate success. It was the first French production car to exceed one million units, and was the best-selling car in France for many years. Emblematic figure of the post-war period, its production stopped in 1960.
The 4CV we are presenting was put into circulation on 21 June 1956. Originally in lavender grey, the bodywork was repainted in 1989 in a blue colour. The interior is in its original state. Traces of corrosion can be seen on the body and chassis. Mechanically, the engine has been rebuilt in 1998 but a restart will be necessary. This car is a good basis for restoration for collectors looking for a popular French car to restore.
