Launched in 1960, the 404 plays the card of modernity and innovation, it will be the first French saloon car equipped with an injection engine. Its success was quickly confirmed and from 1962 onwards its bodywork was available as a coupé, cabriolet, estate and pick-up. Its production continued abroad until the 1980's with a total of 2,800,000 units manufactured.
The model we are presenting is a 404 saloon, launched on February 8th 1964. The bodywork has a white paint that was redone many years ago. The interior is still in its original state and is still equipped with its original cloth upholstery. Traces of corrosion are to be noted on the body and chassis. From a mechanical point of view, it is equipped with its original carburettor engine that needs to be restarted. This 404 sedan is thus an interesting restoration project for all enthusiasts of the Sochaux brand.
