Chassis number : WBABT310X0LR25509
As early as the 1930s, the Bayerische Motoren Werke, otherwise known as BMW, proposed in its wide range of roadsters as attractive as performing. The legendary 328 was the very first of these, followed in the 1950s by the iconic 507, a genuine star car. In the mid-1990s, the Bavarian manufacturer introduced a new successful roadster, the iconic Z3, which appeared in Goldeneye in the hands of James Bond, played by Pierce Brosnan, and marked a whole generation. In 2003, after eight years on the market, the Z3, which sold 300,000 units worldwide, was replaced by the Z4. This new roadster, bigger, more luxurious and more powerful, also has more modern, taut, broken lines. Under the hood, the small 4-cylinder engines are gone, BMW will only mount 6-cylinders at the launch. In version 2.2 l 170 hp (only in Europe), 2.5 l 192 hp, 3 l 231 hp then, in 2006 2 l injection 150 hp (4-cylinder). Like the Z3, the Z4 will be a huge success, with already 100 000 units sold at the end of 2004... The last Z4 E85, the 197 950th built, will leave the production lines on August 28th 2008. The example shown here was delivered to its first owner in June 2003 by the BMW dealer in Strasbourg. It is the "mid-range" engine, the very pleasant and torquey 2.5-litre 6-cylinder developing 192 hp, coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox. As the service booklet indicates, the car was ordered in black (sapphire black metallic) with leather and fabric seats and two shades of grey (pearl grey sport leather). The car, now equipped with wheels borrowed from the 3-litre version, has a total of just under 207,000 km. The car is in a very good condition and has its service book stamped (last service in June 2020 at 200,452 km) and all the original manuals. The electric soft top works very well and is in perfect condition. An opportunity to acquire a nice and emblematic BMW convertible for the summer, whose value will probably rise in the years to come.
