This is undoubtedly one of the most charismatic French sports cars ever produced. A fabulous heritage that we owe to Jean Rédelé who started his career in the early 50's by developing a competition version of the popular Renault 4CV, winner in its category three years in a row at the famous Mille Miglia. The story was launched and soon the first of a long line of sedans was born in 1955: the Alpine A106, which also accumulated victories in competition. In 1963, the Alpine A110 was launched and soon became a formidable weapon in national rally and hill climb competitions. Then from 1969 onwards, the A110 S distinguished itself in even more prestigious events, winning a hat-trick of victories in the Coupe des Alpes and coming third in the Monte Carlo Rally. The following year, Alpine finished third in the Monte Carlo Rally and won the Acropolis Rally and the Tour de Corse. At the wheel of an Alpine A110 1600 S, the driver Jean-Claude Andruet became European Rally Champion in 1970. Continuing its success and winning the majority of the events in Europe, the Berlinette became the most successful rally car in 1971. In 1973, after the complete takeover of Alpine by Renault, the diamond-shaped brand decided to enter the new World Rally Championship as a manufacturer. Thanks to its drivers, Jean-Claude Andruet, Jean-Luc Thérier, Bernard Darniche and Jean-Piette Nicolas, the berlinette won six of the thirteen events on the calendar, making Alpine the first world rally champion brand.

The car we are presenting is an Alpine A110 1600 S which was launched on December 31st 1971. This car has always been well maintained as shown by its invoices file dating back to 1981. Its current owner acquired it in 2015, he has since done some work, the bodywork in particular has been completely redone in 2019, so it is in excellent condition. As for the interior, it is in its original configuration. Mechanically, the engine had been completely rebuilt in 2007, nevertheless, a major overhaul has been done in 2016 including the rebuilding of the gearbox or the replacement of the clutch. This car is now running perfectly, its behavior is very dynamic, the 1600 rpm are very fast and its direct steering is very precise. The test drive of this sedan on the small roads of the Pays de Gex was a real pleasure! Performing and agile, it will certainly provide its future owner with incredible sensations.
