1972 TRIUMPH TR6
Attractive estimate
Original configuration
Enchanting 6-cylinder engine
French collector's registration
Chassis n° CC81593U
Introduced in 1968, the Triumph TR6 is the successor of the TR5 and TR250. While keeping the structure, the doors and the windscreen, the German coachbuilder Karmann managed to modernize the line of its predecessor, this metamorphosis will allow it to extend its existence until 1976. Mechanically, it is equipped with a 6-cylinder engine of 2498 cc fed by a Lucas direct injection, allowing it to develop 150 hp. The engine is associated with a 4-speed manual gearbox with optional overdrive. The US market being unavoidable, Triumph had to adapt to comply with American anti-pollution standards. Thus, the US versions were equipped with two Stromberg 175 CDSE carburetors, reducing power to 104 hp. With 91,850 units produced, the TR6 was a real commercial success and is now one of the most popular British roadsters.
The example we present is an American version built in April 1972. It has been restored several years ago and now has an attractive configuration. The body has been painted with a new white paint and a light blue soft top. Inside, the light wood dashboard is combined with light blue cloth and imitation upholstery as well as light blue door panels and carpeting. This TR6 is today in a good general condition, its chromes are shiny and its interior is well preserved, only the bodywork shows some defects. The odometer shows a little less than 65,000 miles, or about 105,000 km. Mechanically, our 6-cylinder is powered by two Stromberg carburetors and is equipped with a 4-speed manual gearbox, without overdrive. Our road test gave us complete satisfaction, this TR6 is very pleasant to drive, the mechanics start right up and the sound of the 6-cylinder brings something extra. With its attractive price tag and original configuration, our TR6 has plenty of arguments to convince you.
