[...] first of all, I am far from having the science you lend me! Alas! If I had to note (or note?) all [what] I find just & profound in your work, I would make a volume"... He proposes to come and talk to Croisset about it in person : "I won't move from here, all winter long, having at heart to finish the heavy book I'm working on"... [It's about Bouvard and Pécuchet.]
