Untiring traveller, Alix Aymé travelled through Asia, taming a culture different from her own. Discovering new vegetation, lively scenes of life or inhabitants with different customs, the artist has never stopped illustrating these experiences. The Pagoda bears witness to this desire for an authentic representation of the country. Marked by the Nabis precepts of her master, Maurice Denis, Alix Aymé knows the importance of colours. The vivid and colourful tones of this work are a continuation of this teaching. The palette is composed of different tones all bright and perfectly combined. The use of small successive impastos but also of black circles recalls the technique of the impressionists. Influenced by European pictorial research, Alix Aymé layers on canvas the vision of an enchanting Asia.
