Set of five kakemono in ink and light colors on paper, each depicting a northern goshawk on a natural wooden perch, the bird of prey held at the leg by a cord tied around the perch and falling down in braids and knots.

Illustrated Mirror of Falconry), illustrated by
Kawanabe Kyôsai (Gyôsai) (1831-1889), a painter of the Kanô school, illustrator and son of a samurai. Published around 1860, the book describes the ancient Japanese falconry techniques.
