SÈVRES, Manufacture impériale
The Emperor Napoleon I
Bust in biscuit after the model of Antoine-Denis CHAUDET (1763-1810). It bears on the base the engraved inscription NAPOLEON and the mark of Sèvres. On the back, A.B for Alexandre BRACHARD (1775-1830)
H. 51,5| L. 26,6 D. 22,6 cm (Damage to the right ear, small chips on the back of the bust)
Alexandre BRACHARD worked from 1784 to 1827 at the Manufacture de Sèvres.
He modelled, among others, a bust of the Empress Marie Louise, of the King of Rome or of Benjamin Franklin.
Tribute to Achille Peretti (13 June 1911 Ajaccio/14 April 1983 Neuilly-sur-Seine)
Collection built from 1960 to 1983
Resistance fighter and politician, Achille Peretti was influenced by two extraordinary figures who shaped France:
Napoleon, who at the age of thirty had already established most of our institutions.
General de Gaulle, by whose side he enlisted during the Second World War to restore the country's honour.
Born in the imperial city of Ajaccio, my father liked to create a living environment representing the glorious era of the Empire. Over the years, he chose each element of his daily life with particular care: furniture, paintings, objects, carpets.
Inspired by Malmaison, he played with the dominant tones of green and yellow to highlight the warmth of mahogany and the gilt bronze ornamentation of the furniture. Every place where he settled, whether it was his private residence, his office in the Neuilly town hall or the Hôtel de Lassay, the residence of the President of the National Assembly, bore witness to this infatuation.
Renée Michelangeli-Peretti "I myself lived for almost forty years in this collection of great quality and it is not without emotion that I part with part of the collection that I was privileged to inherit".
