Wooden box with ivory veneer. Lid with two hinges. The imperial coat of arms with the number ML surrounded by friezes with floral decoration. The body is decorated with a belt of interlaced flowers framed by two friezes with geometric decoration. Varnished wood and tortoiseshell interior, natural wood underside. With six wooden pegs.

Sumptuous original wooden case covered with brown calfskin gilded with laurel wreaths at each corner, as well as with the roulette on the edges. Lock, clasp and handle in silvered bronze decorated with laurel wreaths. The tray of the handle bears an inscription: "20 March 1811, offered by the ladies of Mahé, French Indies". Inside decorated with red velvet and silver trimmings.
