HAIRMARK OF EMPEROR NAPOLEON I. Presented in a square gilt bronze frame with the figure N, Marie-Louise in grey-green velvet. Accompanied by a handwritten letter giving the history and the origin of the relic which would have been cut in Saint-Cloud in 1809.

On the back is an old handwritten label: "hair of the Emperor Napoleon given by the Empress Josephine to Mrs Ducrest de Villeneuve in 1809 in Saint-Cloud. Transmitted to Miss Ernestine...". Sold at Drouot on May 14, 1969 under number 79. "A lock of hair of the Emperor Napoleon I. In a small gilt bronze frame with his figure| a label is glued on the back of the frame and bears the inscription "hair of the Emperor Napoleon, given by the Empress Josephine to Mrs Ducrest de Villeneuve in 1809 in Saint Cloud. Given to Miss Ernestine..."
