Katrin Fridriks
Katrin Fridriks was born in 1974 in Reykjavík, Iceland and lives and works in Luxembourg. Her research in painting focuses on speed, gravity and human interaction with the forces of nature, themes which she takes from her native Iceland and which place her in an original form of abstract expressionism. Her dexterity is put to the test and she constantly pushes her limits by working with strength and agility. Her body is used as a medium and put at the center of her creation. She has developed several techniques that have made her work a completely original production where the painting is transformed into an event.
We find in the works presented here the performative and choreographic character of her work, which is associated with a particular interest in colour and monumentality. Mother Nature is a series that brings together several of her paintings in which the artist demonstrates a great generosity of colour and format. His production develops as a litany of homage to nature and to the human being in a synthesis of past, present and future.
