Yayoi Kusama
Yayoi Kusama was born in Japan in 1929 and quickly established herself as a figure of the avant-garde in that country. Represented by major galleries, Yayoi Kusama has benefited from retrospectives and exhibitions in major institutions such as the Whitney Museum, the Tate Modern and the Centre Pompidou.
The two works we present, Papillon and Cube mirror, are very representative of Kusama's art. Indeed, the colours, the round shapes and the play of light reflections recall her universe. Her art is turned towards what she calls since the 1960s obliteration, that is to say the aesthetics of the circle, the dot, the disc, the circular.
