Produced by Morris Garage and built from 1962 to 1980, the MG B is the perfect example of the sporty convertible in the pure English tradition. When it came out, it had the heavy task of succeeding the MG A, and keeping its values and sensations while offering more comfort and safety. For this, it will be built on the basis of a more rigid monocoque body offering a better habitability. This unit was powered by a 1,800 cm3 4-cylinder engine developing 95 horsepower and enabling it to reach a top speed of 170 km/h. Presented at the London Motor Show in 1962, the MG B immediately met with the expected success and the first road tests validated the announced qualities of the car. The MG B evolved over the years to meet the increasingly demanding standards imposed by the American market, where it was the best-selling car. In spite of this, its success is not denied and until 1980, a total of 512,880 convertibles and coupes will be sold throughout the world.

The example we present is an MG B Black Edition that was launched in 1980 in Florida. Its second owner took possession of it in 1986 and drove it for only 5,000 miles in 34 years. Imported in France by its current owner in 2020, our MG B is today in a good general condition. Its structure is sound and its interior is well preserved. Her odometer shows 37,590 miles or about 60,500 km. Last year, she received a new hood and a new exhaust. The carburetor and the braking system have been revised. With its black color, its specific rims and its side stripes, our MG B has an original look. Initially produced at 500 units, this edition will be a great success and 6,682 units will finally be manufactured. Our charming car will be sold with its American title and its FFVE certificate allowing you to obtain a French collector's license.
