LISZT Franz (1811-1886)

L.A.S. " F. Liszt", Weymar 12 September [1852], to a friend| 4 pages in-8.

On his plans to marry Princess Sayn-Wittgenstein, and the Weimar opera.

He was happy to meet Mr. Wolf, and will do his best to make his daughter's stay in Weymar a pleasant one. He was unable to engage Mrs. Moritz, because she disturbed everything Liszt had arranged for her . "By Mrs. de BULOW [his daughter Cosima] you knew what reason of discretion had prevented me from taking advantage of your friendly offer to meet us at Ballenstedt. ...]

At present I am in a thousand troubles inside and outside - but with God's help we will get out of them for good, once and for all. Pce N. Wittgenstein has been here again for a few days - and it is very likely that the conclusion of the things that have been so dear to my heart for years [his marriage to the Princess of SAYN-WITTGENSTEIN] will not be greatly delayed any longer. Shortly after my marriage I will come to see you in Munich (next summer I hope) [...] In terms of opera repertoire for this season we will have Ernani, Spohr's Faust (with the new recitatives), Tannhaüser, Lohengrin, Benvenuto Cellini (BERLIOZ is coming to see me in November), Fliegende Holländer, Raff's King Alfred and Hoven's der Lustige Rat (which I recommend to you as a charming, successful work)".
