Le journal Le Gaulois « annonce que la direction de l’Opéra prépare une Clarisse Harlowe pour Faure, Génevois et Madame Carvalho. Il faut absolument que nous sachions ce qui en est. En sortant de la salle d’armes je suis allé chez M. Perrin | mais il n’était pas encore descendu (10 h. ¼) et mon costume un peu sans façon ne me permettait pas de l’attendre. De plus, je crois qu’il vous appartient de tirer l’affaire au clair. – Vous avez été en pourparlers avec M. Perrin au sujet de Clarisse Harlowe, vous avez donc tous les droits de lui demander un éclaircissement. – Inutile de vous dire que cette nouvelle m’a fait rater une phrase très-importante de Clarisse – j’ai été et je suis encore fort ému...
