It was in 1900, two years after having manufactured his first car that Louis Renault started the manufacture of vehicles intended for the transport of goods. The first truck was built on the basis of a passenger car, but the firm very quickly developed and expanded its range. Over the following years, a development plan will allow the catalog to be enriched with increasingly versatile vehicles with greater capacities. During the four years of the First World War, production will be oriented to contribute to the war effort. At the end of this Renault re-employs its industrial tool, manufactures new models and continues its development plans. Derived from the Type AG-1, the OS type chassis dates from 1924 and will be in the catalog for a very long time until the mid1930s. Available with different chassis lengths, it is powered by a 10 hp 4 cylinder and will be offered in multiple versions such as delivery van, dump truck, moving van, livestock trailer, or even a covered platform.
The model we present has been in the collection for a long time. It was completely restored and was used during the harvest in the surrounding estates or at weddings. The bodywork, enhanced with red and black paint, has aged very well, as has the wooden body, which clearly indicates that this restoration dates back to ten years at most. Equipped with a tipper that can accommodate a bench on either side, this truck has a lot of charm in addition to being in excellent condition. Ready to be back in action, its engine compartment is clean, as are its black leatherette interior and soft top. There is no doubt that at this price, enthusiasts won’t miss it.
