PROVENANCE Collection privée, Paris (acquis auprès de l'artiste en 1967 à Saint-Paul-de-Vence)
Created in the south of France, when Vu Cao Dam resides in his villa les Heures Claires, near Saint-Paul-de-Vence, this canvas reconciles Sino-Vietnamese tradition and Western culture.
In the foreground, a young man is sitting, thin and slender, holding a fruit. Behind him, a young woman is standing and looking at him. A horse accompanies him. The landscape, the atmosphere, the colours used are marked by the South of France but the work however brings us back to the origins of the artist. Indeed, the scene is imprinted with the soul of Vietnam and its protagonists take up the characteristics of the men and women of the country.
