Acclaimed since his remarkable appearance at the 1931 International Colonial Exhibition in Paris, Mai Trung Thu never ceased to perfect his technique and develop his style. The little brother testifies to the excellence of the painter in this search for perfection. The care brought to this composition is particularly admirable. The faces of this family are of a new delicacy. Slender and elongated, a certain nobility emerges from them. The fine and discreet line of the artist makes it possible to return with a very particular meticulousness certain details such as the root of the lashes, the hair along the nape of the neck or even close to the ear. The little boy's clothing also shows exceptional work: the rendering is particularly careful and detailed. Moreover, the palette used promises to be the beginning of the one that will be his in the years to come. These lively and colorful tones underline the feeling of joy transcribed during this moment of complicity.
