The next two works are bursting with spontaneity and life, and move even further towards abstraction. One presents thick, lacerating black lines, concealing George Mathieu's signature as an integral part of the work. His dedication is also slipped into it: a sign of an open, personal act. The artist seems to have deployed all his impulsiveness| the format of the canvas is so imposing that one can even sense the movements of his body. The complementary colours accentuate the emotion suggested by the line: the fir green responds to the small red spot hidden in the centre, which nonetheless captures the attention.
