Throughout his career, Buffet also worked on colour, which became increasingly vivid as time went by. From 1950 until his death, he painted a whole series of flower vases on different surfaces. With anemones, cyclamens and dahlias, Buffet reproduced every variety, in relatively bright colours. In Bouquet d’anémones, realised in 1985, he uses particularly vibrant shades. Flowers in shades of red, orange and purple arranged in a blue vase stand out against a yellow background. The strokes are sharp and clean| the touch is light and precise.
