WEBERN ANTON (1883-1945)

L.A.S. "Anton Webern", Mödling 6 February 1928,[to Marya FREUND]| 2 pages in-8| in German.
About the organization of a concert by singer Marya Freund.
[The singer Marya FREUND (1876-1966) had created in France Pierrot lunaire de Schoenberg in 1921.]
He deeply regrets that he cannot respond to his letter with good positive news. We must not believe that he lacks initiative or energy. His wishes are his, and more. She wondered about the situation. The fundamental question, we must not forget, is the problem of a room. All those that deserve consideration are rented until the end of the season.... Doing Pierrot with her would be wonderful, like other things! He mentions some other constraints that make it impossible for him to do anything in Vienna, and urges her to believe that he has done everything possible to fulfil his wishes.
He will be very happy to see her on the evening of February 24. He would like to know everything about the SCHÖNBERG concerts in Paris. All this gives him great pleasure.... [A Schoenberg concert had been held in Paris on December 8, 1927, at the new Salle Pleyel, where Marya Freund had sung the Gurre-Lieder and Pierrot lunaire.]
