Driven by the need to devour ("unsern AtzungsNöthen"), he asks to send him food: his wife wants butter, on Saint-Michel's Day and at Christmas, and asks him for good "Haber" ("Erst bittet die Frau, um 40 Kummen Butter, wo möglich die eine Hälfte zu Michaeli, und die andere zu Weihnachten. Dann bitte ich um 100 Schffs: guten schweren, dünnschäligen Haber, auch wo möglich Etwas zu Weyhnachten, das übrige nach Ihrer Bequemlichkeit"). The waters of Marienbad have done him some good, even if he still has some worries to regret.
