Maria Schmidt was the wife of art historian Paul Ferdinand SCHMIDT (1878-1955), then deputy director of the Kaiser Friedrich
Museum in Magdeburg, who was to become director of the Dresden national collections. He has published important works on German painting, as well as several artist monographs.]
He would very much like to make some sketches for his weavings. He asks her to tell him the format, and especially the width it can reach. He has just prepared with Heckel the poster for the new exhibition....
"Ich hätte gern ein paar Entwürfe für Ihre Webereien gemacht. Wollen Sie mir bitte das Format angeben. Besonders wie breit die Sachen werden können. Ich habe jetzt mit Heckel zusammen das Plakat für die neue Kunstausstellung gemacht"...
