This Abarth Simca 1300 GT Bialbiero is none other than a resident of the former Maranello Rosso Museum created by Italian collector Fabrizio Violati in 1989 in the principality of San Marino. Assembling one of the finest Ferrari collections in the world, by the early 2000s the Roman entrepreneur had enriched his museum with some forty Abarths, including chassis 130S/00047, which we present to you today. When the museum closed in 2014, the entire collection was put up for auction, creating a bombshell for collectors the world over. Purchased on this occasion by its current owner, the car had not been driven for many years. An intelligent restoration was then launched, taking care to preserve its authenticity. With a rich racing record, including the 1962 Targa Florio, the 1963 and 1964 Palermo Monte Pellegrin and the 1965 Monza Coppa Intereuropa, our car is being sold with a substantial parts package, including two other fully restored engines, one of which is original. Produite à partir de 1961, son design, signé Malcolm Sayer et validé par le fondateur Sir William Lyons, puise son inspiration dans les lignes aérodynamiques des Jaguar Type D, victorieuses aux 24 Heures du Mans. Sans aucun doute l’un des plus beaux exemplaires que nous avons eu la chance de présenter, cette Type E est aussi celle offrant la plus grande polyvalence grâce à sa préparation poussée lui permettant des performances et une facilité d’utilisation exceptionnelles. Achetée par un important collectionneur franco-suisse en 2017, la voiture va subir une cure de jouvence grâce à l’adoption d’une direction à assistance variable, d’une boîte de vitesse Tremec à cinq rapports et de freins plus performants. Les modifications ne s’arrêtent pas là avec un système de refroidissement amélioré et un travail important sur les trains roulants afin d’optimiser son comportement et les remontées d’informations dans le volant. L’intérêt de cet exemplaire ne tient pas uniquement dans sa préparation. En effet, cette voiture fut livrée neuve à Rome en avril 1962, dans une combinaison de couleur Carmen Red avec un intérieur en cuir beige. Son historique est absolument limpide et documenté : après son séjour en Italie, la voiture est rachetée en 1981 par Erich Traber, l’un des plus grands collectionneurs en Europe et directeur des Établissements Graber. À l’époque, la voiture porte toujours sa peinture et son intérieur d’origine, et n’a qu’un peu plus de 20 000 kilomètres certifiés, soit l’un des exemplaires les moins kilométrés au monde. C’est ce qui avait séduit notre collectionneur qui voulait partir d’une base exceptionnelle pour réaliser la Type E de ses rêves. Suite à son achat, la voiture sera intégralement restaurée, la carrosserie repeinte dans cette très élégante teinte Burgundy Red avec une sellerie sur mesure en cuir d’autruche. Bien entendu, moquettes, tableau de bord, console centrale et capote reçoivent les mêmes soins exigeants. Révisée juste avant la vente (moteur n° R 5191-8, matching), cette voiture exceptionnelle se destine à un collectionneur exigeant à la recherche d’une voiture capable de parcourir des milliers de kilomètres sans craindre la fatigue.
