Mai Trung Thứ expose Rêverie en 1942 à Alger, grâce au galeriste parisien André Romanet qu’il a rencontré en 1941 à l’occasion d’une exposition de son travail donnée à Vichy par la galerie Lorenceau.
Romanet décide alors de présenter le travail de Mai Trung Thứ et celui de son camarade Lê Phổ à la galerie d’Art Pasteur à Alger, puis à Oran. Il s’entend avec le gouvernorat général pour faciliter l’organisation de cette exposition.
C’est un grand honneur de réunir aujourd’hui sur nos cimaises, La lettre de Lê Phổ et Rêverie de Mai Trung Thứ, plus de 80 ans après leur première présentation commune sur les murs de la galerie algéroise.
Mai Trung Thứ trưng bày tác phẩm “Rêverie” (Mơ mộng) vào năm 1942 tại Alger, nhờ vào sự hỗ trợ của ông chủ phòng tranh André Romanet mà ông đã có dịp gặp gỡ vào năm 1941, tại một triển lãm cá nhân được tổ chức ở Vichy bởi phòng
tranh Lorenceau.
Romanet sau đó đã quyết định giới thiệu các tác phẩm của Mai Trung Thứ và người bạn đồng môn Lê Phổ tại phòng tranh Pasteur ở Alger, rồi sau đó là ở Oran. Ông đã đạt được thỏa thuận với Ngài Toàn quyền Algeria để có thể tổ chức triển lãm này.
Thật là một vinh dự lớn lao khi ngày hôm nay, tại đây, chúng tôi lại có thể cùng trưng bày hai tác phẩm: “La lettre” (Bức thư) của Lê Phổ và “Rêverie” (Mơ mộng) của Mai Trung Thứ, hơn 80 năm sau lần đầu hai tác phẩm được ra mắt tại phòng tranh Alger.

Romanet decided to present the work of Mai Trung Thứ and his friend Lê Phổ at the Galerie d'Art Pasteur in Algiers, then in Oran. He made arrangements with the governorate general to facilitate the organization of this exhibition.
It is a great honor to bring together today, on our walls, Lê Phổ's La lettre and Mai Trung Thứ's Rêverie, more than 80 years after they were first exhibited together in the Algiers gallery.
