Cet insigne représente « L'aigle impérial tenant dans ses serres le drapeau autrichien pris à Solférino ». Il s'agit du 3e des 4 insignes qu'a connu le 24e bataillon.
The 24th battalion of hunters (1871 - 1991), was a guard battalion, a disbanded military unit of the French alpine infantry (chasseurs alpins), and then mechanized infantry, which took part in both world wars. This military badge depicts “The imperial eagle holding the Austrian flag taken at Solferino”. This is the 3rd of the 4 badges worn by the 24th Battalion members.
