Dinosaurs & Natural History
A specialty beyond compare
In December 2016, Aguttes revolutionized the global market for the sale of large fossils by achieving a record result of over one million euros for the auction sale of an Allosaurus skeleton, an ancestor of the T-Rex. The house continued its success in December 2017 by offering a complete Mammoth skeleton, which was sold for 548,000 euros by auctioneer Claude Aguttes. The adventure continued in June 2018 when Aguttes was entrusted with the sale of a skeleton of a new species of carnivorous dinosaur, which garnered international press attention and sold for 2,019,000 euros from the first floor of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, establishing a global market presence.
Building on these successes, Aguttes launched a dedicated department in January 2019, based in Paris.
We work with experts who ensure the provenance and authenticity of the skeletons while making paleontology accessible to the general public.
Reflecting the extraordinary nature of this specialty, our exhibitions and auctions are meticulously orchestrated to highlight the unique and historical significance of the discovered species. Media-friendly exhibition venues, opportunities for scientists to study these specimens, and the chance for our clients to name the species in accordance with scientific rules are among the services the department offers to assist you in buying or selling dinosaur skeletons at auction.
The Public's Passion for Dinosaur Skeletons
Various species, such as the T-Rex or Triceratops, can be discovered in France at the collections of the Natural History Museum in Paris or the Natural History Museum in Toulouse, as well as in museums worldwide. However, public auctions led by an auctioneer are ephemeral events that always attract the public and media for exhibitions and sale events.
The Dinosaurs and Natural History Department at Aguttes
Our team, based in Paris, France, consists of an expert in contact with paleontologists and a sales manager. They first work on appraising fossil collections or dinosaur skeletons, followed by creating a catalog to showcase the pieces and communication materials for the event (visuals, press releases, videos). As the exhibition and auction draw near, every detail is meticulously planned, and our media plan and press relations aim to reach as many collectors as possible to increase the number of potential bidders.
With its strong communication strategy and international buyers, the house regularly achieves world records
The house has a unique communication strength and provides sellers with modern and targeted tools for effective international dissemination. We pay particular attention to the production of the sales catalog in both its design and content, whether in paper format or entirely digital. During our campaigns, we mobilize buyers from our portfolio in all specialties and identified potential buyers. We communicate with them through multiple channels; online and offline advertisements, social media, emailings, media, influencers, auction platforms with adapted and quality content; image, text, and video.
