The inaugural exhibition Kandinsky and the Image
After a year and a half of renovations, the LaM reopens with a brand-new exhibition:Kandinsky face aux inmages. By exploring the role of images—whether photographic, scientific, or media-based—in Kandinsky’s creative process, the exhibition offers a fresh perspective on his transition to abstraction.
Conference and Valuation Day in Lille
The LaM was carefully selected by the Centre Pompidou to co-organize this off-site exhibition, thereby enabling the dissemination of major works of modern art throughout the region. Lille thus reaffirms its position as a cultural hub.
In this context, the Aguttes auction house, committed to the transmission of artworks and the history of collections, pays tribute to this legacy of patronage and to the role of the region’s leading executives and industrialists.
It invites you to a lecture in Lille on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., featuring:
- Sébastien Faucon, Director of LaM
- Jeanne-Bathilde Lacourt, Head of Conservation at LaM
- Pierre-Alban Vinquant, Auctioneer and Director of the Impressionist & Modern Art Department at Aguttes
The discussion will focus on the history of the LaM, the role of major industrialists from the North in regional cultural development, and—in light of the institution’s recent renovation—the curatorial choices behind the inaugural exhibition dedicated to Kandinsky, before shedding light on the market for his works.
On the same day, Thursday, May 28, we will also be available in Lille to provide free and confidential appraisals of your impressionist & modern artworks (paintings, sculptures, drawings, ceramics, etc.)
