Asian Painters

Tiếng Việt

With 11 years of activity and 49 auction sales dedicated to modern Vietnamese art, Aguttes is delighted with the results achieved in 2025. These successive records pay tribute to the talent of these painters, long forgotten and now finally brought to light. A series of remarkable auction results followed one another at Aguttes in 2025, with a total of €5.234 million achieved for the artist Lê Phổ alone, and €3.244 million for Mai Trung Thứ. Thus, with Le Bain, Lê Phổ reached third place on the podium of his global ranking on May 13, and with Le Concert, Mai Trung Thứ achieved his second-best international result on September 9. Beyond these record-breaking results, these recent scholarly updates have provided new opportunities for our expert, Charlotte Aguttes-Reynier, to document a field that continues to surprise us.

Asian Art

The Asian Art department brought the year to a splendid close with its December sale, achieving a total of nearly €1.1 million. Led by two exceptional bronzes—an important gilt-bronze statue of Chakrasamvara, Tibet, 15th–16th century, sold for €288,640, and a bodhisattva statue, Nepal, 13th–14th century, which realized €314,880—both from the same French private collection, the sale sparked intense bidding among collectors from around the world.
Beyond these bronzes, which once again confirmed their strong appeal already demonstrated in June during the Asian Spring sale with the auction of an exceptional Sino-Tibetan gilt-bronze Shakyamuni, Qing dynasty, 18th century, sold for €314,880, other precious materials also achieved notable results. These included rhinoceros horn, jade, porcelain, and fine hardwood furniture, such as a Qing dynasty jiaoyi folding chair, which was sold on December 2 for €32,800.
