There are as many human representations as there are painters : rare prints of the 15th century depicting Christ, a very beautiful Virgin and Child reminiscent of the art of Leonard da Vinci or else the stunning realism of King David Praying from the late 17th century. Among the striking portraits is a stunning self-portrait of Théodore Géricualt, painted in 1812, which is surprisingly modern. Modernity again with this touching Head of a man wearing a hat by Vincent Van Gogh.

All the Impressionists are there, often exchanging with each other: Manet, Monet (about la Cathedrale de Rouen), Pissarro, Renoir, Sisley, Degas, Cézanne... and two rare letters from Van Gogh. Many surrealists too: Dali, Magritte, Bellmer, Man Ray, not forgetting the letters from Nadja to André Breton...
Of particular note is the exceptional collection of letters from Paul Gauguin, some illustrated with drawings or xylographs, from his early days with Pissarro. Then there is the stay in Pont-Aven, illustrated in particular by an amusing comic strip.
