NFTs TO BE SOLD IN AGUTTES' CONTEMPORARY ART AUCTION

Digital art is revolutionizing the art market. Aguttes, the first independent auction house in France, is pleased to innovate and present artworks with their matching NFT.

NFTs, also known as Non Fungible Tokens, are digital works protected and encrypted by a license. This license allows the collector to be the sole owner of the work, which cannot be copied.

This new form of art, with international influence, is developing rapidly on a totally dematerialized market. The marketing of intangible goods in France is currently prohibited. For this reason, the seven works offered on June 28 will be physical, material works created by New French Touch collective. In accordance with the terms of sale, the buyer of the material work, after payment and reception of the work, will receive on his wallet (digital wallet) the matching NFT.

New French Touch is a collective of anonymous artists and financiers whose objective is to create quality artistic NFTs, privileging the "artisanal" uniqueness to the industrial quantity. For the first time in France in May 2021, artworks by this collective were sold for a total of €500,000 of matching NFTs, including a nickel coil and its related NFT for over €200,000.

These artworks offered at auction are part of series named "First Ones Collection", "Chemigram", "Japanese Artwork" or "Prehysteric". The paintings Cloud of Jade and Tree from the "Chemigram" series illustrate the process of chemical alteration of light-sensitive paper which, when exposed to light, is irreversible. The "First Ones Collection" brings together the very first photographs taken: the first photograph in the world, the first color photograph, the first underwater photograph...

ABOUT THE CONTEMPORARY ART DEPARTMENT

In a constantly evolving market, contemporary art occupies a prominent place. In recent years, it has experienced a meteoric growth and reaches new records every year. Among its actors, we find many profiles, from businessmen to private collectors, as well as several generations. These actors gravitate together in a dynamic system, sometimes complex but certainly exciting.

It is precisely this dynamism and enthusiasm that is the strength of Ophélie Guillerot and her team in our Contemporary Art and Contemporary Asian Art departments.
