A "Pagoda" brooch from Cartier evokes the temples of the Far East through its pyramidal shape. The central part of the brooch holds a rectangular jadeite motif engraved with a decoration in slight relief on one side of a bird perched below a fruit on a gnarled tree from which two branches and their buds branch off, and on the other side of a bird perched on a pine branch, reminiscent of the oriental inspiration of the early 20
th century. Made around 1920 and signed and numbered Cartier Paris.
