Hosted by Antoine Larigaudrie, the program “Coffre-Fort” highlighted a remarkable drawing by Jean-Baptiste Oudry (1686–1755), featured in our upcoming Old Masters sale.

A major figure of the eighteenth century and official painter to Louis XV, Jean-Baptiste Oudry is recognized for the virtuosity of his drawings and the precision of his naturalistic studies. The work presented on the show reflects the finesse of his line and his sensitive approach to the subject.

In this context, Victoria Damidot notes that the Old Masters market is more active and attractive than ever: high-quality, unpublished sheets from private collections rarely appear on the market today. Collectors and institutions pay close attention to such discoveries, and certain works can achieve remarkable results when they benefit from clear provenance and exceptional quality of execution.

This sheet by Oudry will be presented in the Old Masters sale on December 4 at Aguttes, in Neuilly-sur-Seine.
