An enamel, diamond, pearl and gold bracelet, 19th century
The reverse side of the bracelet conceals a secret compartment, a feature typical of sentimental jewellery of the period. Very much in vogue during the Second Empire, these intimate pieces of jewellery held a lock of hair or a miniature portrait in memory of a loved one.
