‘Rare estate version produced in only 1,700 units.’
- Unveiled in Frankfurt in 1997, the E55 AMG is equipped with the new 5.4-litre M113 V8 engine developed by the wizards at Affalterbach. It develops 354 hp and is paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission that was very modern at the time.
- Our example was delivered new at the end of 1998 to Würzburg in Germany, then exported to Japan before returning to the Netherlands in 2018. Its current owner purchased it in 2020 with 128,558 km on the clock.
- Now with just under 134,000 km on the clock, our E55 is in very good condition, with its emerald black metallic bodywork (189 U) well preserved. The specific bumpers and side skirts, chrome exhaust tips and 18-inch AMG wheels add a touch of sportiness to this prestigious estate car.
- Inside, the comfortable black leather upholstery is in very good condition. The car, with its Avantgarde finish, is very well equipped, featuring a sunroof, heated seats and cruise control. The AMG speedometer, graduated up to 280 km/h, is a reminder of the car's dynamic capabilities. There are a few cracks on the dashboard and the wood trim varnish, and the headliner is peeling away at the rear of the roof.
- At the end of 2024, the car underwent a major service including an engine oil change, preventive replacement of the water pump and the addition of four Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres. It has been driven very little since then. During our test drive, we found it to be in good working order and were charmed by the power of the V8 engine. Ideal for dads in a hurry, it will transport the whole family at speed in appreciated comfort.

- Présentée à Francfort en 1997, la E55 AMG est dotée du nouveau V8 M113 de 5,4 l préparé par le sorcier d’Affalterbach. Il développe 354 ch et est associé à une boite automatique à 5 rapport très moderne à l’époque.
- Notre exemplaire a été livré neuf fin 1998 à Würzburg en Allemagne, il a ensuite été exporté au Japon avant de revenir en Hollande en 2018. Son actuel propriétaire s’en porte acquéreur en 2020 alors que son compteur affiche 128 558 km.
- Affichant aujourd’hui un peu moins de 134 000 km, notre E55 se présente en très bon état, sa carrosserie noir émeraude métallisé (189 U) est bien conservée. Les boucliers et bas de caisses spécifiques, les embouts d’échappement chromés ou encore les jantes AMG 18 pouces donnent une touche de sportivité à ce break statutaire.
- A l’intérieur, on observe une sellerie en cuir noir confortable en très bon état. La voiture avec sa finition Avantgarde est très bien équipée, elle dispose d’un toit ouvrant, des sièges chauffants ou encore d’un régulateur de vitesse. Le compteur siglé AMG, gradué jusqu’ à 280 km/h rappelle les capacités dynamiques de la voiture. On notera simplement quelques fissures sur le tableau de bord et le vernis des boiseries, enfin le ciel de toit se décolle à l’arrière du pavillon.
- Fin 2024, la voiture a bénéficié d’une importante révision comprenant une vidange moteur, le remplacement de la pompe à eau de manière préventive et l’ajout de 4 pneus Michelin Pilot Sport 5, elle a très peu roulé depuis. Lors de notre essai nous avons constaté un fonctionnement sain et avons été charmé par la puissance du V8. Idéale pour les papas pressés, elle transportera toute la famille à vive allure dans un confort apprécié.
