• Launched in 1948, the Morris Minor was one of the most widely produced British cars of its time, with over a million units manufactured by 1972! This shows just how successful this model was, and how much it became part of the British landscape, both in towns and in the countryside...
• This is the attractive ‘Traveller’ version, whose exterior wood panelling is reminiscent of the heyday of woody estate cars. The small car with the big proportions; every day in so many different ways: the ultimate all-purpose car, before Volvo estate cars!
• The example illustrated on these pages, very elegant in its Old English White livery, with its red vinyl interior and matching carpets, was acquired in 1985 by British film director Richard Loncraine (Silver Bear at the 46th Berlin Film Festival for Richard III in 1996, among others) from a fishing boat captain in Cornwall.The car was in very good condition and was used occasionally by the director in London and then at his country house in the Lot region of France.
• The current owner acquired it in 2022, when it had only 15,000 original miles, and immediately undertook a major series of repairs (costing more than €10,000): the engines were rebuilt, the brakes and clutch were changed, and it was converted to left-hand drive.
• Little used since then, it is in very good condition and fully functional. It will appeal to enthusiasts who love to combine the charm of a classic car with the practicality of a family estate car that can do it all!
