He apologises for taking so long to reply to his mother, but he was caught up in a week of concerts and needed to concentrate; he mentions his supplies of coffee and tea, but also schnapps and aquavit… He is preparing for his meeting with FURTWÄNGLER… In April 1934, he has his sights set on the vacant post of Musikdirector in Frankfurt…
