Small 8vo. (1)-VIII-47 pp., on laid paper, fine margins, large engraved vignette bearing the arms of Viceroy Eugène on the title page.

Contemporary long-grain red morocco, gilded coat of arms in the centre of the covers, plain spine decorated with gilded lyres, gilded title, covers richly decorated with gilded fillets, scrolls and garlands in a frame, flowers in the spandrels (a few pinholes).

The coat of arms of Eugène de Beauharnais, prince and adopted son of Napoleon, appointed Viceroy of Italy by the Emperor from 1805 to 1814.

Extremely rare. Only one copy in the CCFr.

A fine gift binding for this title published for the performance of a chinoiserie at the Imperial Theatre in Turin, on the occasion of the 1807 carnival.

The Prince de Beauharnais remained Viceroy of Italy from 1805 to 1814.
