He thanks her for her New Year’s greetings and adds a handwritten note addressed to Madame Mast, saying that he was deeply touched by her thoughtfulness ‘in sending us this beautiful hand-bound volume’. Two autographed envelopes addressed to Madame la Générale Mast in Tunis are enclosed (1946 and undated).
