An extremely rare Dutch counterfeit of the first part of the *Contes*, which was originally published in Paris by Claude Barbin in 1665. The address given here is fictitious. Willems (Elzevier. Histoire des Annales typographiques, 1880) comments on this edition as follows: although published with a Paris address, this book was undoubtedly printed by Vleugart in Brussels (followed by a comparative description of the publisher’s typeface material proving its reuse)... This volume is an exact copy of the Paris edition by Cl. Barbin, 1665, which, moreover, had already been reprinted in the Netherlands in the same year (Rochambeau, pp. 509, no. 20). A fine copy, beautifully bound by Thibaron-Joly.
