Navy morocco, ribbed spine, gilt title and date, double gilt fillet on the head and foot, gilt roulette and double fillet inside, gilt edges [Cuzin] (very slight rubbing on the upper edge at the ribs, very slight oxidation of the paper, a few leaves slightly trimmed in the lower corner of the margin).
Fr. Guy Pellion, a prominent bibliophile of the Second Empire (a coat-of-arms ex-libris engraved by Serin); lot 388 in the catalogue of the sale of his library, compiled by the bookseller Adolphe Durel in 1882.

First edition in-12, published in the same year as the original in-4 and equally rare.
The printed title is preceded by an allegorical frontispiece title engraved in black on copper.
Generous margins (h 130 mm). Published against the backdrop of the Fronde, Cinna was Corneille’s greatest dramatic success. The Privilege, granted for the first time to the author himself on 1 August 1642, which he ceded to Toussaint Quinet. Only 2 copies in the CCFr.
