L.A.S. ‘Your son Henri’, [January 1891], to HIS MOTHER, Countess Adèle-Zoé de Toulouse-Lautrec; 4 pages, in-8.

A rare autograph letter signed by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.~

An amusing letter to his mother.

‘My dear Mummy, It is not your son, but an ice cube writing to you. It is snowing, snowing, snowing, and, despite all the modern conveniences, the cold still bites. I hope that as soon as the thaw comes, you’ll do the same, but it would be truly risky to travel in such weather. The cheerful Fabre is here, and is fighting off the chill with quite a few small glasses. I’m happily working away, stamping my feet, but getting up in the morning is hard. I have friends coming to pose, so I’m lazily waiting for them to arrive before I get up.

Nothing new apart from that. I hope your sick friend is on the mend, and am counting on the old saying ‘no news is good news’. Hope to see you soon, and lots of kisses to boot.

Correspondence (1992), no. 183.
