Red morocco with coat of arms, triple fillet framing the covers, gilt edges, gilt roulette on the fore-edges and spine, ribbed spine decorated with
with floral motifs, gilt title, blue half-leather endpapers (very slight oxidation of the paper).
The only edition.
A valuable catalogue, both for its section on history and for that concerning ancient law, customs, case law, pleadings…
Under the Ancien Régime, the Grand Conseil was a judicial body of the King’s Council presided over by the Chancellor of France.
A very fine copy from the library of Cardinal Fleury, tutor and later famous minister to Louis XV (1653–1743), with his gilded episcopal coat of arms embossed in the centre of the covers.
